When you get really bored of doing the same dungeon, repeatedly. Quests: Very few items require that you make it personally but crafting allows you to do quests to get items for other things. You can even repair while inside a dungeon or a raid.
Repair costs: You save a bit and more importantly, you don't need to find a mender / repair NPC.
But everything I've found is dated by a year or two, so I'm not really sure how accurate it all is if things have changed since then.
